Working in the fridge November 9, 2011

It was 9 °C in my office today. The heat eventually kicked in, but it took forever to heat up. I spent most of the morning waiting for a St. Bernard with a neck cask of brandy to come and rescue me. I’m still trying to get warm. I’m going to have a hot shower and then crawl into bed. It’s the only thing that’s going to get me away from these awful 90210 reruns. Brandon’s a hockey player! Gah! Pray for Mojo.

Chocolate overload November 7, 2011

My mom picked up this mug for me a few months ago. I love it! Right now it’s my favourite mug at home. It’s full of Chocolate Chili Chai tea at the moment… which has just washed down a PC  Candy Cane Triple Chocolate Cookie. Have you had those? They are delicious. Especially with the tea.  I have coworkers and work colleagues I want to spoil with Christmas baked goods… I’m planing on making cupcakes with the cookies. I think they’ll enjoy them.

I have been slogging my way through the second season of Beverly Hills, 90210 on Netflix. So incredibly awful, yet I can’t stop. The clothes! The hair! The sanctimonious behaviour! It killed me then, and it’s killing me now. How did I watch every episode of this awful show? How is it that I’m on my way to doing it all again? Gah! Well, it’s mindless fun while I knit and drink tea. I hate every single character and still haven’t figured out Brandon’s hair and/or his awful kissing technique.

Save me.

What is your guilty TV pleasure?

Oh, and today is Hug a Bear Day! Do you have a bear to hug? They’re not just marauding scavengers! They need hugs, too!

Chocolate Chili Chai? Yes, please! November 6, 2011

I didn’t get up to much today. I went for a quick run this morning to calibrate my Nike+ sensor for running. It was way out of whack; it recorded last night’s 5k run as 8.1k! I wish I could run that fast. My average pace is about 5:54/km, which is fine with me! If I never go any faster, I’ll be fine. I hope to keep up that pace or go even slower for my half marathon in February.

After my run, I went to Davids Tea for some Chocolate Chili Chai. Have you had this yet? Lord Scandinavian Jeebus, it’s delicious. I’m going back tomorrow to buy a truckload of it. I haven’t tried any of the other winter teas they have out this season… I’m afraid I won’t be able to get by the Chocolate Chili Chai.

As for bad TV therapy, I didn’t really need it today, but I ended up watching ’54′ on TV. It’s just as terrible as I remember, but I did like the soundtrack.

What are some of your favourite soundtracks? Some of mine are ‘Purple Rain’, ‘Saturday Night Fever’, ‘Velvet Goldmine’, and ‘Thumbsucker’.

WHOMP!!! January 3, 2011

… was the sound I didn’t hear as the snow fell last night. I live in a basement apartment; when I look out my window, all I see is white. I’m hoping the snow acts like an insulator so I can lower my heating bill… I am an optimist! I’m going to spend the rest of the evening knitting, drinking tea out of the cute cup (with a cozy!) that DeeDee gave me for Christmas, and watching Hawaii 5-0, which is dreadful.
